On Monday, September 29th, we went to Lille to participate in the « Short film international festival ».
We sat in a theatre inside the « Beaux Arts » with other groups of pupils from different schools.
First, a lady explained to us the different techniques to make a short film such as :
- Live action shots
- Animation, which includes :
- Puppet animation which typically involves stop-motion puppet figures interacting in a constructed environment
- Clay animation which uses figures made of clay or a similar malleable material to create stop-motion animation.
- Cutout animation which is a type of stop-motion animation produced by moving two-dimensional pieces of material such as paper or cloth.
- Object animation which refers to the use of regular inanimate objects in stop-motion animation.
- Chroma key chroma keying, is a special effects technique for compositing (layering) two images or video streams together based on color hues (chroma range). We usually use a « green screen » for this technique.
- Synthetic images
To illustrate these techniques, we watched 9 short films. Some of them are available on the internet.
- « Partie de pêche »
- « Rob’n’Ron »
- « Mon pote »
- « Senez Sound System »
- « Baed Az Class ».
